Stanley Ghyll in Eskdale is one of the most challenging woodland sites to work on. It's a gorge with steep rocky sides, difficult access, has footpaths running through it, has a SSSI designation and as you would expect, there is a river in the bottom of it!
Working with The Woodland Trust with funding from the Green Recovery Challenge fund, we've worked on 9 sites throughout Cumbria to bring ancient woodland sites into management.
At Stanley Ghyll 4 hectares of Rhodedendorn have been removed by specialist contractors (Complete Access and Tree Services LTD) to safeguard the SSSI features and the bryophyte populations.
