Want to know more about Deer and Squirrel management?
The Forestry Commission is running a free training day at Carnforth aimed at all those involved with woodland and deer management and recommended for current and prospective applicants, agents, and landowners involved in Countryside Stewardship or Woodland Creation.
The introduction of deer and squirrel management incentives has been developed to support their future management in response to the desire to increase the management of, and creation of, woodlands across the country. The impact of deer and squirrels is recognised, and the management of both species must be considered across landscape areas.
The day will consist of two main sessions, a theory-based morning session covering a variety of subject matter to support the application of, and delivery of deer and squirrel management being supported through Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier funding. The afternoon session will be a practical demonstration of the Impact Monitoring methodologies.
