Join us for an open day at Cannerheugh Farm for an informal tour of the site with the owners.
This visit is for anyone who farms and is interested in regenerative agriculture and managing livestock with hedges and trees.
Cannerheugh Farm sits on the edge of the Pennines, Nic and Paul Renison have farmed it’s 360 acres since 2012, initially starting with sheep the farm now has 80 Aberdeen Angus Suckler, 300 laying hens, a few pigs, and a fledgling glamping enterprise.
The farm is in the firing line on the mighty ‘helm wind’, a raw east wind which can literally cause havoc. In 2013 they entered a HLS agreement, this along side working with the Woodland Trust was the catalyst for getting more trees on the farm. Each year they have added to the planting, this has been hugely beneficial not only in terms of shelter, but also increased biodiversity, shade, water infiltration and of growing importance, resilience for future generations on the farm.
