Continuous Cover Forestry? Regenerative Forestry? Close to Nature Forestry? Low Impact Silviculture? Alternatives to Clear Fell?
Whichever one of these names you use for it, we’ve created a free webinar followed by a free site visit with a panel of experts to explain and discuss the theory, practice and policy involved. They will also talk you through your options and aim to inspire you to manage more woodlands in this way.
Who is this course for? This course has been designed for existing forestry professionals and woodland owners. Those who have a good level of woodland management experience will benefit from this course the most, but the course is also open to new woodland managers.
Learning outcomes:
- Grow your understanding of the theory and principles of managing uneven aged stands
- Grow you understanding of the economic, social and biodiversity benefits of CCF
- Grow your understanding of the practical operations in CCF
- Grow your understanding of policy and grant incentives, particularly how CCF relates to upcoming Countryside Stewardship woodland supplements
To get the most out of the experience we advise you to attend both the site visit and the webinar.
The webinar is on Wednesday 27th March from 19:00 to 20:30.
The site visit will take place at Coombs Wood in Armathwaite, Cumbria, CA4 9PY on Tuesday 23rd April. The day will start at 09:30, we’ll be out in the forest until 14:00, when a free lunch will be provided at the local pub.
What Next?
Later this year there will be a three-day tree marking course that aims to teach the technical skills required to make tree selection decisions. Information on this course will be sent to those who sign up to the webinar and site visit.
