Cumbria Woodlands is excited to announce the opportunity for one mentoring/shadowing position with our Woodland Futures team and our partners the Lake District Foundation, based in Cumbria.
The position is open to any recent graduates and those currently studying full-time or part-time at degree level, or higher, in Forestry, Conservation, or a related subject.
We are looking for an individual who is keen to develop on-the-job skills, while gaining experience and training in the forestry sector, which could also benefit someone looking to pursue a career in conservation, community engagement, site management, or working with volunteers and the public.
A valid driver's license and access to a car is desirable.
The position will run for 6 months (April 2024 until September 2024), with a total 12 days of shadowing/mentoring for the successful applicant that will include:
- Landowner/farmer outreach involving woodland creation and management advice
- Site visits and follow-up work, e.g. report writing
- Involvement with the Cumbria Tree Action Plan Delivery Forum
- Training events
- Working with partner organisations
- One-to-one training from our Woodland Futures team, and more.
